I'm 69 years old and live four miles below the San Gabriel Mountains in Pasadena, CA. For the last eight years, as fun and exercise, I've enjoyed backpacking my highly-modified Razor Carver scooter up to Cobb Park in Altadena every other day, a 1,000 foot elevation gain, and riding fast down the steep neighborhood streets.
The pavement here is very rough and the extremely rugged Carver features a pedal with a steel bar that spans across both the rear wheels pressing on them for braking. As you may imagine, the wear from the brake and the pavement and the heat generated are not kind to wheels and bearings and they must be replaced regularly.
These 99a hard black 71mm wheels along with the Reds bearings and automotive grease have proved a good economical combination and usually at least 10 trips, about 40 miles, under hard dry use but offer zero traction when wet.
