Hope this helps, well i heard about 9fish surfboards 4 years ago, i live on the east coast, they are from California
so i checked out there site and read there awesome reviews on the 7'4"hammerhead, i was looking for a shorter long-board for easier turning but still wanted long-board benefits. i talked to Wes at 9fish and he said it would do everything i wanted it to do. Well i have been riding that board for exactly 3 years now and i cannot progress any further with it. The first ten rides where cool getting used to the boards control and movments.
The bottom line is it does not catch waves as easy as a 10 foot board it catches waves like an average 7 foot 4"board. it turns amazingly easy for its size that part is great, BAD: it is slow and does not want to progress
forward then if you walk or trim up the board it starts shaking and pearling and it just stays at one speed-slow
the white water catches up with you and it ends up a quick ride. my suggestion
2 u if u get this board is change the two fins to really small side bites and have a center fin installed.
i just traded this board today for $$275.00 and i paid 600.00 with shipping i rather have something better and loose the cash, its not worth it 2 me 2 keep it, so watch it, all 8ft and 9ft boards catch waves better than this.
